More rain.. followed by return of the cold

FOR anyone hoping for the endless rain to stop, the Met Office has some bad news.

The forecaster expects the next 10 days to remain largely unsettled - and with one other noticeable trend.

Later next week high pressure should start to build south of the UK and also near the USA.

This shift means that instead of arriving from the southwest, weather systems will increasingly track in from the north or northwest, ushering in cold air from the north Atlantic.

For this reason, the Met Office anticipates a "distinct cooling trend" at the end of February and the start of March.
