AS WE get ready to settle into the darkest month, there's nothing better than closing your eyes for a second and reminiscing about long, warm summer days.

How Urdd centre is letting children be children again

Did you go on holiday anywhere nice this year? Maybe you were lucky enough to go abroad with family or spend time in a corner of Wales with friends.

For me, when the sun is shining it’s hard to beat being at home here in Pembrokeshire.

It's easy to forget that going on holiday is a privilege; not everyone gets to go or can afford to go away.

When covering the cost of bills, rent and feeding the whole family is a constant challenge, or when caring duties are daily, packing up and getting away for a break with fun activities is just not an option.

That's why the Urdd, Wales’ largest youth organisation, has set up the Fund for All.

The Fund's purpose is to give children and young people, who could otherwise never afford it, an unforgettable holiday at one of the Urdd’s residential centres across Wales.

The Fund was established in 2018 and since then - with the generous support of individuals, businesses, organisations, charities and councils across Wales - we've been able to give 1,000 children and young people from lower income households, foster children and young carers a holiday at one of the Urdd’s four residential centres.
