Duo from region on Welsh rich list

THE Sunday Times Rich List has revealed the wealthiest people in the UK in 2025. The annual list shows whose wealth has been going up or down over the past 12 months.

There are eight from Wales on the The Sunday Times Rich List with Sir Michael Mortiz and wife Harriet Heyman top. The venture capitalist and sculptor duo are worth £4.43billion, but have seen a decrease in £200million in recent months.

The 76-page special edition of The Sunday Times Magazine reveals the largest fall in the billionaire count in the guide's 37-year history, from a peak of 177 in 2022 to 156 this year. The number of billionaires has dropped for three successive years - this year’s decline is the sharpest yet.

When it comes to those from North Wales, there are two on the general Rich List and one person on the list of the wealthiest people under 40 years old.

Top of the North Wales list is 57-year-old Simon Nixon, who was born in Lincolnshire but grew up in Flintshire. He co-founded the price comparison website MoneySuperMarket in 1993.
