Cresswell in warning to Red Dragons ahead of Potters clash

A FORMER Premier League star who turned down a summer move to Wrexham has warned the club that money alone won't guarantee promotion from the Championship.

Ex-England left-back Aaron Cresswell was linked with the Red Dragons during the most recent transfer window after leaving West Ham following an 11-year stay. However, the 35-year-old opted to join their second-tier rivals Stoke City instead, penning a one-year deal back in July.

‘The Potters have had a strong start to the season and are currently fifth in the league table. Meanwhile, Wrexham, who secured promotion from League One in April, are languishing in 18th.

The North Wales side, backed by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, splashed out £33million during the summer after bringing in 13 new players to help them compete at the next level.
