UNION SLAMS AUTHORITY AFTER INDEPENDENT PANEL SAYS DISMISSAL WHEN SCHOOLS MERGED UNJUSTIFIED
A NORTH Wales headteacher who successfully appealed her dismissal after a school shakeup has not yet been reinstated - prompting a warning a union could take legal action against a council.
Rhian Jones, former headteacher of Ysgol Babanod Mochdre and Ysgol Cystennin Mochdre in Colwyn Bay, was dismissed following the amalgamation of the two schools to form Ysgol Minafon.
Ms Jones was dismissed by Conwy County Borough Council in April as part of a compulsory redundancy process which was tied to the school merger. However, there was no disciplinary element involved in her dismissal and Ms Jones appealed the decision.
