9-DWELLING SCHEME PASSED ON PLANNING CHAIR'S CASTING VOTE

- By DALE SPRIDGEON Local Democracy Reporter

PLANS to build nine affordable homes on part of a playing field in Holyhead has been accepted - despite concerns over loss of a “protected” open space where children could play.

The application was submitted by Holyhead Town Council to Anglesey County Council and concerned a development in the Llanfawr Road area.

Plans would see nine affordable dwellings to be socially rented. Six bungalows, one pair of two-storey semidetached properties and one detached dwelling are planned.

The plan would see more than half of the playing field area taken up with the development.

During the meeting, some councillors argued over the loss of a “valuable” green space whilst others had felt there was “a need for homes”.

Three letters of representation and four web comments had been received from the public, and one contained 16 signatures.
