VERULAM Sporting made a winning return from a three-week break in emphatic fashion.
They beat KwaDukuza’s LTSF Caminamix with a 4-2 in the Over-50s Ethekwini Masters League match played at the Verulam Recreation Grounds.
On a wet spring afternoon, Sporting wasted no time shaking off any signs of rustiness, displaying glimpses of their trademark quick inter-passing style.
Despite injuries to Logie Naidoo and Martin Kalideen, manager Dixon Moodley reshuffled his defensive pack, and moved the versatile “Prince” Mtshali into the heart of the defence alongside the ever-reliable Sipho Ndlovu.
Roland Sooban, usually at centre back, was deployed to left back - a decision that reaped rewards early on in the fixture.
