Worst day of my life

A MUM has told of the harrowing moment police informed her that her young daughter had been killed by a mudslide on a school trip.

Leah Harrison, 10, ended up stuck, head down in the mud and she suffocated. It has been ruled an accident.

Her mum Michelle said it was the worst day of her life when Leah died.

The schoolgirl was hit by the mud as she crossed a stream on a residential trip to an outdoor activity centre last May.

Michelle said in her statement to the inquest: “She was like my right arm and never left my side.”

She said Leah skipped to school the day pupils left on the trip, adding: “She was proud as punch... I gave her the biggest kiss and cuddle and told her to have the best time.”
