Productivity 'crisis' as hungover staff pull sickies

WORKPLACE drinking cultures are causing absences - with Gen Z staff feeling the effects more than older colleagues, a report shows.

Gen Zers — typically people born from 1997 to 2012 - tend to drink less overall than older generations.

But a poll by the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) found they suffered far more the next day after drinking at work-related events.

Some 31% of employees of all ages admitted they had called in sick during the last 12 months after drinking too much at a work gathering.
