MILLIONS of people would love to be in Kyle Keene-Welch’s shoes. And the 22-year-old from Bedford agrees his coveted role is a dream come true - designing and tweaking computer games for Feral Interactive.

- Edited by LAURETTE ZIEMER

I'm a UX (user experience) engineer. I spread my workload across several projects, each with their own challenges.

Each game requires its own creative solutions and problem solving. Typically, I'm prototyping a new screen, fixing bugs or implementing features.

If I'm not creating something, I'm testing how something feels on a device and coming up with ways to improve the experience for everyone to have the best possible gameplay, implementing the UI (user interface, such as menus and character select screens) for popular video game franchises to mobile, tablet and Nintendo Switch.

What do you love about it?

I have been able to work on a range of projects so far. One of these is Total War: EMPIRE, which has been released while I've been at Feral.

It's been amazing to see something I have personally worked on be released into the world.

I found working on games I played in my childhood - Empire was released in 2009 for desktop - a personal highlight as these bring back amazing memories.

Ultimately, working on projects that I'm passionate about with like-minded people is something I love about the job.
