THERE'S nothing like Pride of Britain for raising the spirits of the nation when times are tough - just ask a host of the biggest names in showbiz.

- JEREMY ARMSTRONG

The best of us

Strictly stars, actors, TV presenters and sporting champions were humbled by the selfless work of the winners.

Hollywood actor Michael Sheen, a Pride of Britain judge, said: "They are the best of us." Reflecting on the unsung heroes who got their moment in the spotlight, he said: "These are extraordinary stories, people doing incredible things when they are facing some of the hardest things in life. It lifts you up and helps you forget the nonsense we all face every day." Michael was one of many stars who honoured our heroes at an unforgettable ceremony.

TV personality Dr Ranj Singh said: "I genuinely think Pride of Britain is more important than it has ever been.

"We are surrounded by so much conflict. So it is important to remember how much good there is still out there, work done by everyday people who are helping those around them." Singer Chesney Hawkes and Olympian Iwan Thomas MBE told how the ceremony helped raise their spirits, too.
