It overtakes breast cancer as Sir Chris Hoy makes new plea
PROSTATE cancer has become the most common cancer in Britain as Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy issues a fresh call for more men to be screened.
Increasing awareness among men getting checked has led to prostate cancer overtaking breast cancer with 64,425 men diagnosed in 2022.
The analysis of latest NHS data by Prostate Cancer UK showed this compared to 61,640 diagnosed with breast cancer during the period.
The charity is calling for better screening after a bid for wider testing on men at greater risk of the disease was rejected by the UK National Screening Committee.
