NURSE Chloe Hammond has been given a new lease of life as she goes about her duties thanks to her faithful pal Ocho.

The 32-year-old, who uses a wheelchair, is thought to be the first UK nurse to take an assistance dog to work.

Community nurse Chloe has been training labrador Ocho for two years to help her at home and on her visits.

She says: "I took a couple of years out of work when I was quite unwell. Since getting Ocho I've had multiple promotions. I'm enjoying being a nurse again.

"Nursing with a disability is hard but an assistance animal brings a different angle to nursing.
