Rod, Elton and stars celebrate life of late BBC radio DJ Steve

MUSIC legends have lined up to pay tribute to their “funny and rude” friend Steve Wright ahead of what would have been his 71st birthday tomorrow.

The DJ died aged 69 in February 2024, but his loss is still being felt by his many friends in the music business.

In Steve Wright - A Celebration, Sir Rod Stewart, 80, addressed his friend and said: “Every interview I did with you was funny, rude sometimes. I'm going to miss you, miss you big time.”

Sir Elton John, 78, said it was Steve's campaigning that forced his record company to make 1989 hit Sacrifice the Aside of his single.

He said: “It was my first solo number one record in England.
