PM's Saudi visit as Iran threatens to quit ceasefire deal Israel kills 112 in Lebanon, says it's not in agreement

KEIR: END THIS NOW

Rescuers at the site of an Israeli airstrike in Beirut yesterday

AS the US-Iran ceasefire began to buckle and with at least 112 people killed in Lebanon, Keir Starmer visited the Middle East to call for a lasting peace deal.

The Prime Minister spoke in Saudi Arabia yesterday as Israel boasted of attacking more than 100 sites within 10 minutes across Beirut, eastern and southern Lebanon, in its largest onslaught in its war on Hezbollah.

Just hours after Donald Trump's ceasefire was announced, Iran said it was considering "deterrent operations" against Israel, claiming that it violated the truce by attacking Hezbollah targets in Lebanon.

And chaos soon returned to vital oil route the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran claimed to have closed again last night - which America disputed.

A message sent to shipping read: "Any vessel trying to travel into the sea will be targeted and destroyed."

Iran has threatened to withdraw from the ceasefire if Israel keeps up its major attacks in Lebanon, claiming it is violating the agreement.

Israel claimed that war is outside of the ceasefire, although peace broker Pakistan said it was included.

TOLLS

Meanwhile White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said: "Lebanon is not part of this ceasefire. At this point in time they're not included in this deal."

Despite Iran's claim that the Strait of Hormuz was closed, Leavitt said there had been an uptick in traffic yesterday.
