Vicario urges Spurs fans to back the team: We still have plenty to play for

GUGLIELMO VICARIO has told angry Tottenham fans: we have GOT to stick together.

The Tottenham keeper was at the centre of a heated exchange following Thursday's 1-0 Europa League last-16 first-leg loss at AZ Alkmaar.

Spurs players were booed as they clapped the away end, with Vicario waving his arms to signal that supporters should be backing the team, not barracking.

That led to more fan fury being vented both in the stands at the time and on social media afterwards.

The Italian then called for unity ahead of next Thursday's second-leg decider in London.

He said: "I can understand the frustration of the fans but we still have a lot to play for.

"We need them every game, home and away. We know they are very important for us and now is a big moment of the season.
