HOVLAND HELL AT NECK KO

VIKTOR HOVLAND pulled out of the Ryder Cup singles before play started yesterday due to a neck injury.

The Norwegian needed on-course treatment during his Saturday morning foursomes win with Bob Macintyre against Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley.

And Luke Donald chose the world No.12 to go out in the final afternoon fourballs with Matt Fitzpatrick. But Hovland (top) was replaced at the last minute by Tyrrell Hatton and an MRI scan on Saturday night showed he was not fit to play in the singles.
