'Heartbeat of Pogues' Ranken is dead at 72

THE Pogues drummer and founding member Andrew Ranken has died aged 72.

Andrew was 'The Clobberer'

Affectionately known as “The Clobberer”, he also played harmonica and belted out vocals.

The band, whose lead singer Shane MacGowan died aged 65 in 2023, said in a statement: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Andrew Ranken, drummer, founding member and heartbeat of The Pogues.
