23 years for the murder of student in Bournemouth | But case built on word of known liar drug addict.
A MAN who has spent 23 years in prison for murder may have been framed, new evidence suggests.
Omar Benguit was jailed for life for the knife killing of South Korean student Jong-Ok Shin, 26, in Bournemouth in 2002. Benguit, a drug addict, was convicted at a third trial in 2005, after two other juries could not agree.
The BBC's Panorama says the key witness, a drug addict known as BB, testified she had been driving Benguit and two others on the fatal night. She claimed her three passengers got out and that Benguit stabbed Jong-Ok, known as Oki.
