How party chief has flip-flopped

- BY DAVE BURKE and LIZZY BUCHAN

JUST a day after boasting about having no qualms over sending traumatised asylum seekers back to the clutches of murderous regimes, Nigel Farage's gimmick-ridden immigration plans were unravelling.

The Reform party chief was asked if his draconian bid to return migrants to the likes of the Taliban included women and children, and he replied: 'I didn't say exempt forever but at this stage it's not part of our plan for the next five years.'

Less than 24 hours earlier, his sidekick Zia Yusuf said the party intended to do so sooner.

And while Mr Farage admitted deporting children will be "difficult", he warned: "If a single woman comes to Britain, they will be detained and deported. If a woman comes with children, we will work out the best thing to do."

The Lib Dems said of his flip-flopping: "It appears Nigel Farage has taken as much time reading his own plan as he does his constituents' emails. Reform's plans do not even stand up to the scrutiny of their own leader."

Mr Farage had vowed to remove 600,000 asylum seekers from Britain in five years, saying he would ramp up the use of former RAF bases for the task - but being unnable to name one.
