King urges 9m to get checked out for cancer in TV address

THE King says early cancer detection brings the gift of hope, as he shared the news that his own cancer treatment is being scaled back.

In a message to the nation last night, Charles gave a significant update about his cancer journey while stressing the importance of screening programmes to help early diagnosis of the disease.

His message, recorded at Clarence House, was broadcast as part of Channel 4's Stand Up To Cancer.

He said: “Today I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to ‘doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the New Year.
