COCO OFF AS OSAKA STUNS US HOTSHOT

The two-time champion never faced a break point as she stunned American No.3 seed Gauff 6-3 6-2 on Labour Day in the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Osaka had not reached the second week of a Major tournament since 2021. She returned from a 16-month pregnancy break last January.

After reaching her third quarterfinal in Flushing Meadows, the former No.1 said: “I'm a little sensitive and I don’t want to cry, but honestly, I just had so much fun out here.

“I was in the stands like two months after I gave birth to my daughter watching Coco.
