Could you afford to buy a home on a soap street?

FORTUNES come and go on TV soaps but the values of the properties featured on them have only soared up and up.

Experts analysed the cost of a few of the most famous homes on television, with Dot Cotton's terrace on EastEnders rocketing by nearly 2,500% since the BBC show began.

If you had moved into the launderette worker's house in 1985, you would have paid around £35,853. Fast forward 40 years and it is now worth £894,430.

In the soap, Dot owned her home outright, meaning any sale would be pure profit.
