Can't cheer on World Cup that stirs up racism

DONALD Trump's partial travel ban on the people of Senegal and the Ivory Coast doesn't just leave those countries and their supporters wondering what they do now, ahead of next year's World Cup.
It doesn't just leave the other African countries that have qualified wondering what they do about their fans and even their players' families.
It leaves football and our wider society needing to take a long, hard look at itself. Are we all, really, going to look the other way while a World Cup host nation treats the people of Africa like second-class citizens?
The world was up in arms over Qatar and the treatment of migrant workers, women, LGBTQ+ issues and human rights abuses. Rightly so. They were all areas that demanded scrutiny and needed to be addressed.
So what do we now have to say about America's treatment of African fans?
Look, World Cups and the politics around them are complicated. Always have been, always will be. Every country that hosts football's biggest tournament will have issues.
None will ever be beyond reproach.
