Former PM hints Chancellor should axe 2-child benefit cap

GORDON Brown will today speak of the “shameful epidemic" of child poverty, piling pressure on the government ahead of this month's Budget.

With many urging Chancellor Rachel Reeves to axe the two-child benefit limit, the former Prime Minister will say: “What has become a UK-wide child poverty emergency is not only the biggest cause of social division.

“Because of the failure to equip young people for future work, it is also the biggest threat to our long-term economic future.”
