'Blatant disregard for a very high risk of death'
Daily Mirror UK
|April 24, 2025
A PADDLEBOARD operator jailed for 10 years and six months over the drowning of four people ignored the river's lethal state, a judge said.
Mrs Justice Dame Mary Stacey blasted Nerys Bethan Lloyd for failing to give a safety briefing, take next-of-kin details or warn about a weir on the river.
Met Office weather warnings and a flood alert were also in place for the South Wales river at the time of the paddleboarding tour in 2021.
The group was taken by surprise by the weir. They were all swept over into the churning white water and some became trapped.
