Red notices must not trigger unnecessary panic, says former Geology professor

The Disaster Management authorities are required to issue Red notices when rainfall exceeds 100 millimetres, but the public should not give way to unfounded fears of large-scale calamities, a former Professor of Geological Sciences at the University of Peradeniya said yesterday.
