Amid growing environmental challenges and pressures demanding innovative solutions, INSEE Ecocycle (Private) Limited is established as a leader in sustainable waste management in Sri Lanka. With over two decades of experience since its inception in 2003, the Company has revolutionised the management of industrial and post-consumer waste islandwide, setting new benchmarks for excellence and innovation in the industry.

INSEE Ecocycle: Transforming industry towards sustainability

As Nandana Ekanayake, Chairman/CEO, INSEE Cement Lanka, noted "At INSEE, Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles are embedded in our corporate DNA through the Sustainability Ambition 2030. Through INSEE Ecocycle, we extend these principles to enable sustainable waste management and circular economy practices across Sri Lanka."

Leading the circular economy revolution

Being Sri Lanka's first and only provider of co-processing technology, INSEE Ecocycle has successfully managed over 1.2 million metric tons of waste, serving more than 1,000 customers, including multinational companies, local conglomerates, government agencies, and non-governmental institutions. This impressive achievement amplifies the company's dedication to environmental stewardship and sustainable development in a region that is increasingly focused on addressing waste management challenges.

Sujith Gunawardena, Director, INSEE Ecocycle, explained, "Our approach to waste management extends beyond traditional methods. We see waste not as a problem but as a valuable resource that can be reintegrated into the production process. The circular economy mindset drives everything INSEE Ecocycle does, from waste collection and processing to resource recovery and final sustainable solutions. Transforming waste into value, we are creating a sustainable future for Sri Lanka."

Operating as a fully owned subsidiary of Siam City Cement (Lanka) Limited (INSEE Cement), the company benefits from being part of Sri Lanka's only fully integrated cement manufacturer. The connection enables INSEE Ecocycle to implement co-processing solutions that would otherwise be impossible, illustrating how industrial symbiosis can drive environmental innovation.
