Sri Lanka has taken its first step toward a long-delayed shift into electronic invoicing, with the Cabinet approving a crucial upgrade to the Inland Revenue Department’s (IRD) digital backbone.

The move is towards modernising tax administration and closing longstanding compliance gaps.
