MALIBAN Biscuits, on Thursday, in a thrilling final played under lights at the CCC, overcame Hayleys PLC by three wickets to emerge champions of the 32nd Singer-MCA Super Premier League 50-over knockout tournament.
Hayleys Group elected to bat first, and openers Nishan Madushka (40) and Ron Chandragupta (55) posted 97 runs before both fell to successive balls in the 20th over. Thereafter, twenty-plus scores by Ahan Wickremasinghe, Ramesh Mendis, Inuka Karannagoda, and Ravindu Fernando helped them reach a final score of 235.
