Govt.'s Balance Sheet proves positive results; new values system: President

During 2026 Budget presentation in Parliament takes dig at past regimes exposing their terrible, immoral, and ugly systems in first year in office

PRESIDENT and Finance Minister Anura Kumara Disanayake yesterday told Parliament that the Government's Balance Sheet of 2025 demonstrates positive results of its operations apart from a new values system breaking away from the past regimes.

"Government's one-year balance sheet demonstrates positive results of Government's operations; strong belief that this is a Government that has not compromised the aspirations of the people," the President said during the presentation of the 2026 Budget in Parliament.

In his speech, the President also took a dig at past regimes amidst Opposition criticism of the National People's Power (NPP) Government's performance in its first year in office.
