Davina McCall on channelling good vibes

- Marc Baker

DAVINA McCall is known for her sunny outlook in the face of tough times and she shares one cheeky way to a happiness boost that won't hurt the plastic too much but does involve lace and elastic.

The 58-year-old TV presenter, whose recent health problems followed a rough ride through the menopause, has this advice for middle-aged women who feel they have lost their sparkle.

She says: “I always say go out and buy yourself new underwear. Whether I am seeing [my husband] Michael or not I wear nice underwear for me.

“You can tell what mood I am in by the underwear I am wearing. If I don’t like myself it is off white, seamless comfortable underwear.”

Within a 12-month period, Davina had to cope with a benign brain tumour and breast cancer, but instead of cracking under the strain, she quietly tied the knot with celebrity hairdresser Michael Douglas, 52.

Now happily married, she will soon be back on our screens judging The Masked Singer’s Christmas special on ITV on Boxing Day.

And her hubby shares her positive outlook. She says: “Michael tells me to wear pink boots. If you wear your normal everyday outfit then buy shoes, one small thing, or mad earrings. It might be so far out of your comfort zone, but someone will go, ‘Wow’.

“Don’t be embarrassed to be seen. We're all guilty of wanting to shy away, don’t give into it. Be seen and don’t give into it.”
