Warning over drone delivery crisis at jails

PRISON chiefs must install technology to block drone signals and prevent criminals delivering drugs and guns to inmates, MPs have warned.

The Ministry of Justice has urged officials to roll out Sky Fence, a security system that jams a drone's frequency and reboots it, forcing it to return home.

Crime gangs are using expensive, specialist devices with extended flight times to fly packages of drugs, phones and even weapons into prisons.

Jail bosses are "particularly" concerned about firearms and explosives being delivered to convicts behind bars, a report by the Justice Select Committee revealed.
