Treasure hunt...British Museum's bid to find 2,000 stolen antiquities

THE British Museum has begun a hunt to recover 2,000 artefacts stolen from its collection in the past few years.

The institution launched a webpage yesterday sharing information and photos of the types of objects missing, to help members of the public "identify whether they might have come in contact of any stolen items".

However, the page does not give specifics of the lost items.

Sixty of the missing items have now been retrieved, the museum said, and another 300 have been identified and are "due to be returned imminently".
