Tory: Lammy embarrassed over axe for trial by jury

JUSTICE Secretary David Lammy was condemned yesterday after he failed to turn up to answer questions in the Commons about plans to scrap most jury trials.
His Tory counterpart Robert Jenrick tore into Mr Lammy, inset below, for sending a junior minister in his place to respond to queries on the controversial proposal.
Mr Jenrick demanded: "Where is the Justice Secretary to answer for this? "Perhaps he couldn't face up to the embarrassment that he is now destroying the principles he once championed."
