Tikka chance! Our spice-shy man at 'world's biggest curry restaurant'

NOT being much of a spice merchant is perhaps not the best starting point to appreciate what has been dubbed the “world’s biggest curry restaurant”.

But the venue seized its chance to tickle my tastebuds.

It’s not in India or Pakistan but in a giant 120ft-high glass pyramid in Stockport.

And the Royal Nawaab Pyramid’s sizzling new buffet-style feast has taken the UK by storm in just weeks.

Once the former headquarters of the Co-operative Banking Group, built in 1992, the iconic ziggurat-shaped building has been a fixture of the Greater Manchester skyline for decades, overlooking the busy M60.

Two years ago Pakistan-born businessman Mahboob Hussain, 70, took on the disused glass monolith and transformed it into a gleaming cathedral of curry.

The demand for tables is so great that you may need to book weeks in advance.

On arrival you’re firstly greeted by the enormous car park – well used – as the Royal Nawaab does not serve alcohol. So all can drive along and purely focus on the food.
