Son helps find mother's body 11 years after she was killed by his father

A SON has helped police to locate his mum's body more than 11 years after her murder at the hands of his father.

Rania Alayed's remains were discov- ered near a lay-by on the A19 at Thirsk, North Yorks.

Rania, 25, was murdered by Ahmed Al-Khatib for “becoming too Westernised”, his trial heard.

Despite searches of the area, her body had not been found. Yazan Khatib said his father finally revealed the location during a two-hour meeting at Dovegate jail in Uttoxeter, Staffs, where he is serving life.

Grave

Student nurse Yazan, 21 - who was just nine when his mum was murdered - told Greater Manchester Police and Al-Khatib, 46, was taken to the site to pinpoint her grave.

Yazan said: “He told me to approach the police and tell them that he's ready to review the location. They started to search on Monday.
