Spitfire buried on wartime beach for 40 years is on sale for £4m
A SPITFIRE which was buried under sand on a beach for 40 years before being salvaged and restored has been put on sale for £4million.
The Mark 1 was flown by RAF hero Flying Officer Peter Cazenove who gave 400,000 stranded troops at Dunkirk air cover in the Second World War.
But the plane was hit by enemy fire and the pilot was forced to crash-land on a beach between Dunkirk and Calais.
