Pupils urged to get HPV shield as take-up falls

YOUNG people are being urged to access the HPV jab, as one in six girls and one in five boys in England are not vaccinated by the age of 14.

The jab - offered in schools and community clinics, if parents give consent - helps stop the human papillomavirus from causing cervical, head and neck, anal and genital cancers.

Two doses six months apart, offered to all year 8 and 9 pupils between age 12 and 14, have traditionally been needed for full protection.
