Abuse up nearly a third, reports Deliveroo

MPs and human rights groups have told of their outrage at England's decision to play Afghanistan in cricket's Champions Trophy today.

They have written to Yvette Cooper urging her to give them specific protections under the Government's new crime Bill.

It comes after Deliveroo's rider survey showed a 28% increase in abuse, including theft and verbal attacks, in April to September 2024.

More than 30 leading businesses want the Government to add delivery staff to a new offence for assaulting or threatening retail workers at their place of work under the Crime & Policing Bill, introduced to Parliament yesterday.
