Porkies row as baker denies recipe switch

PORK pie fans are embroiled in a bizarre row over their favourite treat, after accusing a bakery of changing its 107-year-old recipe.

Customers said they had recently noticed a huge decline in the standard of pork pies being produced by Birds Bakery chain.

Enthusiasts have now accused the company of telling porkies, after it hit back to claim the recipe had not changed since 1919.

The bust-up began when customers took to social media over the festive period. They claimed there has been a "clear decline in quality" due to poor flavour, too thick pastry and not enough jelly.

Mick Dowd, 65, bought one from Chaddesden, Derbys, on January 10 but binned it after a few bites.

The dad of three said: "It's really surprised me how bad they are now.
