Police investigate 'arson attack' on Starmer's house

SCOTLAND Yard detectives were investigating last night whether there was a connection between a suspected arson attack at the Prime Minister’s £2million London home and two other recent blazes.

It comes after counter-terror officers were called in when a fire at Sir Keir Starmer’s family home in Islington was reported in the early hours of yesterday.

The Metropolitan Police called in its SO15 counter-terrorism command because of the high-profile nature of the property’s owner, sources said.

Officers are now searching for a possible connection between yesterday’s incident and a vehicle fire and a blaze at a second property linked to the PM.

A Met spokesman said last night: “At this early stage of the investigation, officers are working to establish the circumstances of all three fires and are keeping an open mind as to whether there is any connection.

“Both incidents are being treated as suspicious at this time, and inquiries remain ongoing.”
