Outsider blamed for Brit mum's murder as neighbours ruled out

A BRITISH woman stabbed to death at her home in the Dordogne was likely murdered by “an outsider”, French police claim.

Forensic evidence found at Karen Carter’s murder scene did not match any of her neighbours — pointing to someone from outside the village of Tremolat being responsible, they said.

At least 15 people who were close to the 65-year-old in the village east of Bordeaux had to submit DNA samples to police, and all were cleared.

Detectives have now launched a fresh appeal for witnesses to the murder in April this year.

It had been feared someone with local knowledge was responsible, due to the ease with which the killer was able to disappear after the murder.
