JOAO PALHINHA insists Tottenham's UEFA Super Cup defeat by Paris Saint-Germain proves they can achieve "something special" under Thomas Frank.

The Portugal midfielder, signed this month from Bayern Munich on an initial loan deal, has added steel to Spurs' midfield, even if they did blow a two-goal lead late in Udine on Wednesday.

Palhinha said: “It will be tough for us all to digest that loss but I think we also need to feel proud for what we did until 80 minutes, because we fought all game against the top team.

“We're really sad. Not just the players but all the staff and all the crowd that came to support us.

“We showed that we'll get there in the future. We have all the conditions to achieve this season and I think the future will bring us something special.
