Strikes at cloth firm 'puts top events at risk'

Major snooker events and tennis tournaments may be affected by the staff walkouts at WSP Textiles

TOP sporting events such as Wimbledon and the World Snooker Championships could be at risk due to strikes at the firm which makes baize for snooker tables and felt for tennis balls.

WSP Textiles, which has plants in Stroud and Dursley, in Gloucestershire, produces Playne's woven felt for brands such as Wilson, Slazenger and Dunlop, at tournaments including "Wimbledon, the French Open and Australian Open".
