Accident linked to effects of drug killed Friends star

FRIENDS star Matthew Perry's death has been ruled an accident from the "acute effects" of the tranquilliser ketamine.

The Class-B drug was in the actor's body when he was discovered dead on October 28, said the County of Los Angeles Medical Examiner.

Perry, 54, who played wise-cracking Chandler Bing in the hit show, was initially thought to have died by drowning in a hot tub at his rented Los Angeles home.

But the medical examiner said yesterday said drowning in "the heated end of the pool" was a secondary factor in his death.

The examiner has ruled the death was an "accident".

The report revealed Perry had taken ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety a weekand-a-half before his death.

Drowning
