Khan's strike-free Tube vow in tatters as he faces 140th walkout

SADIQ Khan has been slammed as an "utter failure" for his inability to end Tube strikes.
In 2016 as Labour's candidate for London mayor, he pledged to ensure there would be "zero strikes" on public transport were he elected.
He also branded the then-mayor Boris Johnson's record of 35 strike days "a disgrace".
Eight years on, Mr Khan faces his 140th strike, covering 162 strike days. Members of the RMT union will shut down the entire Tube network for most of next week in a dispute over a 5% pay offer and other issues including travel facilities.
The action started last night maintenance workers at Ruislip West Depot, London, walked out after talks broke down.
Control staff will strike tomorrow for 24 hours.
From Monday to Wednesday, almost 10,000 RMT members will strike across the network.
