THROUGH his effervescent personality and sheer longevity, Dave Monk became a BBC legend, presenting his popular morning show on Radio Essex for 37 years. As a former resident of the county, I was lucky enough to be interviewed by him several times and he was always tremendous fun.

The same words could be applied to the autobiography he has just written, though the book also has a tragic air of poignancy because Dave was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer.
