THE adoptive mother of a child tortured so cruelly by his birth parents he lost both legs has slammed the decision to free his evil tormentors.

The pair have served less than five years of a 10-year prison term.

Jody Simpson, 24, and Anthony Smith, 47, abused newborn Tony Hudgell so severely he suffered broken fingers and toes, torn ligaments and contracted sepsis.

His legs had to be amputated and replaced with artificial ones.

His new mum, Paula Hudgell, of Kings Hill, Kent, said their release feels “like a blow to the stomach”.
