LABOUR MP Mike Amesbury is to stand down from parliament after being jailed for punching a constituent.
It means Sir Keir Starmer faces his first by-election test in Runcorn and Helsby.
Mr Amesbury received a 10-week sentence last month for punching a constituent but had it suspended days later following an appeal.
